The dynamic and energetic world of Business Studies is brought to life in the classroom through active participation and involvement with rich activities grounded in relevant and contemporary contexts. Business Studies sets the foundation for lifelong financial literacy and ignites a lifelong interest in learning about the business world and the economy and how they impact on our daily lives.
Content
There are three interconnected strands to study in Business Studies. they are:
- Personal Finance which focuses on students making informed decisions to effectively and responsibly manage their financial resources.
- Enterprise which encourages students to identify opportunities and develops an understanding of the financial, marketing and operational functions of an organisation.
- Our Economy which enables students to understand the dynamic relationship between the local, national and international economic situation.
Assessment
Business Studies is assessed at common level.
Students have to complete two Class-Based Assessments (CBAs), one in 2nd year and the other in 3rd year. Once the second CBA is completed students must complete an Assessment Task which accounts for 10% and is assessed by the State Examinations Commission (SEC). At the end of 3rd year students will sit an examination paper to be assessed by the State Examinations Commission (SEC)
